Kelly Brown is a mixed media artist from Toledo currently living in Maumee, Ohio.   Kelly graduated from the Columbus College of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree majoring in Illustration in 1996. She established a faux finish and mural business, Art by Kelly, in 2001. Kelly has done faux finish and mural work for numerous residential clients and local businesses. She apprenticed for a year in 2002 with a local mural company, trained at The Martin Alan Hirsch Decorative Finishes Studio in Louisville, Kentucky in 2003, and at Patricia’s Decorative Arts Studio & Academy in Dayton, Ohio in 2007.
She won the 2005 Parade of Homes People’s Choice Award. In 2008 she completed work at the former Fat Fish Blue Home of the Funny Bone restaurant and comedy club in Perrysburg, Ohio at Levis Commons. She transformed the walls of El Tipico Mexican restaurant in South Toledo which underwent a major remodel in 2012. She has done extensive mural and faux finish work in all three Carpets by Otto showrooms in Perrysburg, Holland, and Toledo. Kelly’s connection to Carpets by Otto is unique as Otto is her father. She grew up playing on carpet rolls and has been doing marketing, showroom design, and decorating for Carpets by Otto for many years and now is their new Vice President. Kelly gets her artistic inspiration from an appreciation of nature and working from the heart. She loves to travel and spend time with her husband Michael.
